7 Steps to the Barn of Your Dreams
The Old Town Barns seven-step barn-building process is a customer-centric and turnkey construction approach. We want to exceed your expectations, so we work one-on-one with you and your representatives to ensure your building meets all your requirements and needs—while staying on budget.
As general contractors and equestrian building project management professionals, we oversee every aspect of the construction project, from design and permit application through final landscape. Your indoor arena, large barn, bank barn, custom stable or other project will be assigned to one or more team members. These team members specialize in equestrian facility design and building and we work directly with architects and subcontractors. From the early site work phases to the final finishing touches of your equestrian project, we strive to make the barn construction process smooth and easy.
Step One: Consultation
The first step of the process is to discuss your requirements and answer any questions that you have about the construction process. We consult with you on the phone first and then on site to have you walk us through your vision. But rest assured, we will be on site throughout the entirety of the project. Our goal is to help you develop your ideas, so whenever you need to bounce an idea off a team member or ask a question, we’re here.
Step Two: Conceptual Building Design
Old Town Barns will prepare a preliminary set of drawings for the project that combines your vision with our years of experience, designing luxury horse barn and other structures that are safe, comfortable and beautiful. Our process is customized to meet your desires. The result is functional, high-quality custom barns, custom stables, custom riding arenas and horse barns that fit your needs.
Step Three: Estimating & Budgeting
We understand that you have may have a budget in mind…or might need guidance on what it will take to achieve your ideal project. The Old Town Barns team will design your project to fit your budget and work closely with you to develop specifications. We want you to be comfortable and informed during the entire process. No surprise add-ons. No ignoring pricing discussions until the very end of the process. We are committed to satisfying the needs of our clients and their horses.
Step Four: Site Development & Pre-Construction Engineering
Laying a solid foundation for your project—literally and figuratively—is critical. We work with you and our project engineers to create a building and site design that balances your existing environment with a layout that is comfortable, and most importantly, functional. Complete sets of construction documents are prepared. We then handle all aspects of the permit application and approval process.
Step Five: Construction
Now comes the fun part! Our professionally trained crews break ground on your dream, using durable, high-quality materials and craftsmanship. Each project is assigned a dedicated project manager who oversees all aspects of thebarn construction process. This individual will be your main point of contact throughout the project. They will make themselves available for questions, requests or concerns—from start to finish.
Step Six: Final Touches & Completion
You have dreamed about your project for a long time. We understand that every detail matters. In this final stage, we make sure your project—whether a horse barn, indoor arena, large barn, small barn with apartment, bank barn, barn with living quarters or other—is move-in ready. Upon completion, we walk through your barn or facility together to ensure it exceeds all of your expectations. We are committed to transforming your dreams into reality.
Step Seven: Maintaining a Lasting Relationship
This is less of a “step” and more of a promise to you, our customer. Our commitment to you extends well past the completion of your project. We care about your families and your animals and want to serve your need for years to come. Ask many past customers and you’ll hear that we have many long-lasting relationships and repeat clients. Our relationships are the most important part of our business. So, it is our promise that we’ll be here when you need us—now and in the future.
